Aruma × SB19 Release Emotional Collaboration “MAPA” in Indonesian Version

A heartfelt message of “thank you,” born from shared emotions that transcend borders.

Indonesian singer Aruma and Filipino supergroup SB19 released their collaborative single MAPA on June 27.
Originally released by SB19 in 2021 as a heartfelt tribute, the song has now been given new life in Bahasa Indonesia through Aruma’s voice.

“This is a love letter to our parents.” — Aruma

Aruma, who has primarily released love songs in the past, takes a new direction with MAPA—her first song themed around love for parents.
Upon the release, she shared the following:

“I’m so happy that I was able to turn a kind of love other than romance—specifically, love for our parents—into a song. And to do it as a cross-border collaboration with SB19? I never imagined it would come true in such a beautiful way.”

The title MAPA is derived from the words “Mama” and “Papa.”
Filled with gratitude and nostalgia for family, the song gently resonates with listeners, offering quiet comfort to the heart.

Aruma also contributed to the lyric translation and adaptation.

To stay true to the heart of the original song.

Aruma actively took part in crafting the Indonesian lyrics. After receiving the offer from SB19 and the Sony Music Philippines team, she worked closely with the Sony Music Indonesia team—carefully fine-tuning everything from word choice to emotional expression.

“Because I’m singing in my native language, I wanted the words to truly reach people’s hearts. That’s why we took our time and refined the lyrics over and over.”

The track was produced by the original team behind MAPA: SB19’s PABLO, Simon Servida, and Jay Durias.
Aruma’s vocals were recorded at Sony Music Studios Indonesia, with Barsena Bestandhi serving as vocal director.

A song that makes you feel like coming home—even from far away.

“I believe this song can be a ‘door to memories’ for those living far from their families.”

“No matter how far apart we are, our hearts remain connected. For me, my parents are the very beginning of my journey in music. Without their constant support, I wouldn’t be who I am today.”

For Aruma, too, this song carries deeply personal meaning.

Blending vocals with SB19 was also a new challenge.

For Aruma, who usually performs solo, finding vocal balance with a group and sharing emotional dynamics were both meaningful challenges.

“I explored how my voice could blend with SB19’s delicate expression—it took some trial and error. But I truly enjoyed the process, and I feel it helped me grow and expand my own range as an artist.”

“Love isn’t just about romance” — a new step forward for Aruma.

In closing, Aruma shared these final words:

“Love isn’t just for a partner. I’ve come to realize that love for family, friends, and even for yourself can also be expressed through music.”

“I hope this version of MAPA helps someone reconnect with a warm memory. And wherever you are, I’d be happy if it reminds you of your parents’ presence.”
