Jakarta-based band HURSA has released their new single “Kau Hanya Belum Mengerti” on May 30, 2025 — their first release in about a year and a half.
In 2024, HURSA remained silent, with no new releases or live performances throughout the year. Behind the scenes, however, the band was deeply focused on creating new music. Now, they finally break that silence with the release of this new single — a track that marks the beginning of their return.
An emotional anthem of humanity themed around the inability to truly understand one another.
Written and composed by vocalist Gala Yudhatama, the song focuses on themes HURSA has consistently cherished — human connection and emotional depth.
The track features HURSA’s signature blend of delicate melodies and dynamic rock sound, woven together in a perfectly balanced arrangement.
“We’ve always centered our music around the theme of humanity,” says Gala. “With this song, we wanted to express the hope that the things left unsaid and the dreams yet to be fulfilled will one day be understood.”
Teaming up with Iga Massardi, the band set out to create a sound that is honest, unembellished, and speaks straight to the heart.
A key element of the track’s sound is the collaboration with Iga Massardi of Barasuara, who joined as co-producer.
Drawing on Iga’s deep understanding and experience with rock music, HURSA aimed to craft a sound that conveys emotion in the most direct and honest way possible.
“I wanted the emotions to come through clearly and directly through the music. With Iga’s support, I believe we were able to achieve that,” says Gala.
With Bryan Alexander joining in for his first bass recording with the band, the sense of unity within HURSA has only grown stronger.
Having supported the band as a live member since 2024, Bryan Alexander officially joins the recording process for the first time with this release.
The result is a track that fully reflects the band’s cohesion and unity, both in spirit and in sound.
Behind every tear, there’s a scream.
Behind every moment of resignation, there’s a fight.
“This song is also a gift to those who’ve been waiting for HURSA’s more aggressive, hard-hitting sound,”
Through the lyrics, I wanted to convey that emotions are never one-dimensional.
“It’s about how there’s a scream after the tears, and a fighting spirit behind resignation. I hope listeners can feel that emotional depth and range,” says guitarist Pandii.
This song marks the signal of a new chapter — a fresh beginning for the band.
This release also serves as a prologue to the upcoming mini-album that is currently in the works.
After a year and a half of silence, HURSA’s music is in motion once again.
The flame is still burning.
